February is the month I start "thinking" about getting back to work. I should be working but laying around and playing is so much more fun. March is when I really get back to cranking out the handbags. This year starting March 1st, I will add one new bag to my website and Etsy shop a day. I try to make 5 bags a day so will upload my favorite one for the day. Figure this will really get by butt in gear! Now on to what I did this week.


The UPS man delivered my new fabric. I love it!! Can't wait to make a beach bag with the Red Bias Gingham and blue boat fabric.

A fellow artist asked if I could make this quilt into a rug. The quilt is insane. Must of taken FOREVER to make. She bought it from someone who was using it as a drop cloth in their garage. Crazy!

Finished Rug. I love it. Even have enough left over to now make 2 smaller rugs.


As I've mentioned before my sister is getting married NEXT weekend. This wristlet is for my 13 yo niece.


Lucy has been working hard on her butterfly Valentines. All I had to do was cut out the butterflies. She is going the rest. Easy for me!

The first of several Minnie/Mickey inspired Kids bags. Great size to hold an autograph book when you go to Disney. The grosgrain strap is perfect to attach those fun collectible pins.

Last night was my Annual Clearance Event Open House. This is one of my favorite events-I get to unload lots of older inventory. Empty bins for new product. Now is the tedious work of photographing all remaining bags and getting them on my website. Official start date of the web sale is Monday. Hoping to get most the bags uploaded by Sunday night.

My sister's wedding is fast approaching. Last shower is this weekend. She decided to make her own bridesmaid bouquets. They turned out so good. I made matching wristlets for the girls. The dresses are charcoal grey with the bright accent colors.

Still can't believe how awesome these turned out. Felt flowers with button centers.

This might be my most embarrassing post. Pictures of my studio. It WAS very scary! Now it is pretty and mostly organized. I still need to tackle my sewing machine area-I will save that for next week. The closet is done and the couch is once again functioning as a couch. Enjoy!

This week was much more productive. I got everything done on my list from last week plus a couple other things. Mainly getting ready for my sisters Bachelorette party which is Saturday night. I also got my annual Daisy Bags clearance event on the calendar. It is the biggest sale I have every February. All sale bags are $25. Now that is a deal! Okay on with the fun stuff. Lots of pictures.

Well, I pretty much got NOTHING done this week. Not really sure what I was doing. Lots of researching online for fabrics and other fun things. I did find and order new straw fabric for Spring and Summer bags. Can't wait to make some. Since I did nothing, I don't have any pictures to show. I will attach some links of things I am going to do next week. It is like my own little Pinterest.

Lucy has a sock hop next Friday. I bought pink felt to make her a poodle skirt using this tutorial. I might actually get it done today and will add photos later.

I bought fabric to recover my dining room chairs. Can't wait to do this. Just need to find my staple gun.

My little sister is "finally" getting married. Her bachelorette party is next Saturday. I am in the process of making her a birdcage veil to wear. It is ridiculous. Two turtle doves holding rings sitting on a nest of feathers and wired beads. Just need to attach the veil and hair clip.

The party has a Parisian theme. I been stalking blogs and finding great ideas.

I promise to have pictures of finished project next Friday. Dining room chairs, poodle skirt, finished veil and hopefully a few other fun things. Have a great weekend!

Well here I am again. It has been almost 2 years since I last posted. I just can't seem to get in the routine. I've decided to move Friday's Hot of the Press to my blog. So now I will definitely post every Friday.

January is one of my favorite months. It is when I take a break from being a machine and get to do fun DIY home projects.

This week I finally got the coat rack by my front door changed to one that will actually hold more than 4 coats. The fresh cut flowers is very cute but not very functional!

Next I was also finally able to hang the deer quilt my mom made Jason several years ago. It is the prefect addition to our deer gallery.

And last but not least. I added picture shelves to the area above my sideboard and moved my kids annual pictures by my awesome photographer Elizabeth to the shelves. Still need to get last years framed and this years should arrive any day.

Coat rack, quilt rod and shelves purchase at no other than Ikea. See you next week!

The first one always hurts.

Rejection is never fun.

At least with Daisy Bags, it just make me want to make them better. Always looking to make them more original and brighter pieces of art.

Good Ol' Tuesdays

Tuesdays are very busy for us. Lucy goes to school in the morning, we have play group in the afternoon and then I hit the pool in the evening for a master swim class.

With all the running around, I didn't get much work done. I did start designing the great fabric I am going to have made. Hope it turns out the way I want.

Tomorrow you will find out why I LOVE WEDNESDAYS. Both kids are in school. I may even have a lunch date with the girls.

Potty Candy

Cole, my 2.5 yo, is in the midst of potty training.

We were using M&M's every time he peed or pooped on the poppy. The peeing-his has down so there are no more rewards. Pooping on the other hand was going to take bigger and better candy. We upped the anty this week to a Hershey Kiss.

IT WORKED!!!

We are now on Day 2 of pooping on the potty.

Oh, the things that get us excited!!!

Not like I don't have enough to do this time of year, I might as well start blogging again. One month left before the big One of a Kind show. Lot of sewing to do. I really hope to get on here at least once a week. If I commit to more, it will not get done.

Today, I unveiled the new DB Scarf. All the fun fabrics of a Daisy Bag but in a scarf. Heck you can even get one to match your bag! They are 60" long-perfect for wearing several different ways. The back is either flannel, fleece or cotton chenille. Priced at $35-great for gift giving.

I can't tell you how excited I get over new fabric. It is quite disturbing. I am in love with the Red Rooster Jezebel line. I think the cream is going to "the" fabric for Spring.

I have spent the past 2 months sewing like crazy getting ready for the One of a Kind show. I have 8 days left. Not enough time. Besides sewing like a mad woman, I have perfected the interchangeable photo bag. I have several in stock and ready to go. I really like the way it turned out. I found a great SAHM from the Chicago area who makes the cutest little flower pins. I sent her a bunch of fabric and she made me dozens of pins. I love them! I can't wait to add them to my bags. I just put an order in for a couple more dozen.

Bees, Bees and more Bees

We took a trip to Indiana this weekend. We were welcomed by a huge bee hive hanging over the shed. Bees were flying everywhere. Too bad they weren't the kind to make yummy honey. In case you haven't had your fill of bees yet. Here is a new messenger bag:

Apples are not just for Teachers!

I just spent 3 gorgeous days at the Gold Coast Art Fair. The weather was perfect and the streets were packed. A great way to finish my summer shows. Now I get to relax for a week before diving into all my custom orders. A couple comments from this weekend about the new apple fabric bags included "That would be a great teacher bag," and "What a cute teacher gift." All I have to say is apples are not just for teachers. A couple of my teacher friends said, "I better not get an apple bag as a gift." I love apple picking, but I don't know if apple picking works for Daisy Bags. I may just have to keep that fabric for the inside of the bags.

Lucy just got back from a week at Grandma and Grandpa's. I wonder how long it will take her to stop calling me "Grammie." First day back and she is already using fabric as a clothesline for my ribbon scraps.

After a busy weekend with Art at the Glen, I came up with a new idea. An eco-friendly shopping bag. Use this when you go to art fairs or shopping at the mall. Save the environment by using your DB green bag instead of all the plastic and paper bags you get at each store, vendor or artist.

The bag measures 13"w x 14"h x 7"d and will easily fit 2 boxes of shoes or a box of shoes and 3-4 pairs of pants. Folds down to fit into the 9"x6" storage wristlet. Reversible. Priced at $30.

We celebrated Cole's First Birthday on Sunday. Here is a great photo of him after his cake smashing. Good thing Grandma was there to clean him up!

I just got my new fall fabric-very, very exciting. This is the first shipment. Expecting 2 more in the next couple of weeks. Whipped up a couple bags. I love the Red Apple Frani. Hope to get it on the website in the next couple days.

Good old County Fair

We decided to take the kids to the Lake county fair today. They need to see farm animals every now and then. Fairs are always good for some pigs and cows. Weather was great. We even got to see the Mutton Bustin Competition. Kids under 6 see how long they can hold onto the back of a sheep. It was pretty funny-most didn't last more than a few seconds. The winner held on for 6 seconds. Only happens at the county fair.

Notice even my Daisy Bag wristlet went on the pony ride.

Welcome to Daisy Bags' first blog. I will try to update every couple of days. I would like to think I can write but I can't. For the sake of my children, good thing I am married to an English teacher.

People always ask how I get my work done with 2 small kiddies running around. I took these photos the other day to show a day in the life of Daisy Bags.

Lucy decided to get into my fabric stash and spread it all over the floor.
